<b>ARTIST STATEMENT</b>
Art is subjective; it’s emotional, it’s visceral! We can’t prove by quantitative analysis, mathematically or using physics if something is right or wrong. Art is totally individual and personal.
A painting can reveal your deepest secrets, things that not even you are aware of until the time it is finished. Every single painting has a story and a meaning to me, and I hope that some of them will mean something to you too. It took me many years to be able to sell a few of my paintings because they mean so much to me. But as I learn how to let them go, know that a bit of my heart is also going to you.
Note that a piece may take months or years to complete, the process of applying more paint, reassessing and redirecting may vary. I accept the mistakes as happy accidents, “We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents - Bob Ross.” The beauty of the inevitable and unpredictable that only a real painting can bring in a world of digital perfectionism.

Barbara's multimedia compositions create a multi-layered narrative that is full of surprises. With a vibrant use of colour, these respond to political and social icons, engaging with themes of identity and cultural demographics, travelling through the landscape of the imagination.
The layering of symbolic abstraction is achieved with honesty and an ability and a willingness to take risks. These vivid works offer much that penetrates the unconscious memory of the viewer.

<b>‘SSSS’ Stay Sane Stay Safe - Lockdown Series.</b>
Navigating peaceful colours and different techniques brought a lot of calmness and mindfulness to me during the first lockdown in Dublin, March 2020. These paintings comforted me and gave me a lot of happiness while making them; I hope they do the same for you! The eclectic colours and vibrant energy try to communicate through different shapes, stripes, and sparkles. My main goal is to bring a lot of Joy, Colour, Hope, Light & Positive Energy to your home.

Barbara Soares is a Brazilian artist who loves indulging herself in the creative side of life. She brings her background in graphic design, journalism and filmmaking to meet appealing emotive pieces of art. Barbara also recycles materials and waste to create unique paintings with lyrics, poetry and empowerment messages. She has been drawing, painting and writing from an early age, but only in the past few years, she has created her own unique style by identifying the mediums which express her artistic voice and approach.
